Adrienne B. Naumann earned her jurisprudence degree with high honors and as a published member of the Law Review at Chicago–Kent College of Law.  She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Chicago and her M.S. degree from the University of Illinois. Ms. Naumann obtained her license to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1989. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Naumann established her own intellectual property practice in 1996. Her issued patents include a broad range of technologies such as mechanical devices, consumer products, and agricultural methods. When necessary, she has filed successful appeals in the Patent & Trademark Office on behalf of clients. Ms. Naumann obtains trademarks, copyrights and design patents on behalf of artists, writers and businesses. She also drafts documents for: invention ownership, shop rights, work for hire, transfer of intellectual property rights, trade secrets, international distribution /sales agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.

Ms. Naumann has presented on subjects such as patent-eligible inventions as well as computer related and biological patents. She has also published extensively on: patent-eligibility of business and computer related methods; patentability of microbial cloning vehicles and genetic material; and antitrust implications for patented genes and nanotechnologies.

Ms. Naumann served on the Illinois Institute of Technology Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2007 – 2010.  During her term she was Chairman of the Governance Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. Ms. Naumann also participates as a judge for that University’s Interprofessional Projects Program. In this program IIT undergraduate students collaborate on innovative projects in technology, industrial applications, architecture and psychology.  Ms. Naumann currently serves as Secretary on the Board of the University of Chicago, Chicago Women’s Alliance.
